Sick Building Syndrome continues even though the commercial hygienist
was unable to find anything significant.
The threat is real; there is something definitely in the Village Hall environment
at the Lexi that makes people sick! More specific and sophisticated tests are
needed to support the real and human physical evidence reported. To this point
it appears that returning to the village hall at the Lexi is extremely doubtful.
Let’s see how much this will cost. Is it worth the additional investigative
costs? I think so, because it is obvious something is not right. As it stands
we get stuck with the bill. However, finding the cause may make the landlord
responsible or at the very least it may be covered by the insurance.
This
commission refuses to meet twice monthly. Mayor Connie Leon-Kreps, Vice Mayor
Eddie Lim, Commissioner At Large Jorge Gonzalez and Treasure Island Commissioner
Wendy Duval voted it down. The only yes vote came from North Bay Island Commissioner
Richard Chervony but it appears that the rest of the commission never listens
to Commissioner Chervony. Here is an idea, why don’t we double their salaries
to $ 12,000.00 per year and mandate they meet weekly; maybe we’ll get something
done. It would be the best $ 60,000.00 we ever spent. There is a lot ahead of
us hiring a Village manager, planning for the Village Hall Future Building ,
resolving the sick building syndrome, finding new interim quarters to continue
village business, budget issues , police department issues just to name a few.
It is time to get to work now! Enough
time has been wasted. This commission was sworn in November 2012 - five months
ago, what have they accomplished of importance?
