Treasure
Island Guard House and Security Gates?
The
resurging discussion regarding the implementation of a security guard house and
security gates for entering Treasure Island has its benefit. I myself oppose such idea. It would seclude the single family houses
from the rest of the community. It would
add a minimum of about $ 1500.00 per year per single family home. Its feasibility is questionable as well as
its results in reducing crime in North Bay Village. However, any discussion to
reduce crime in North Bay Village is a good one because discussion brings
awareness and new ideas. Hopefully these discussions will spark interest in the
community thus increasing volunteerism.
One
of the ideas that have been discussed
is surveillance cameras strategically placed in the entry points of
Treasure Island and Harbor Island; enabling our North Bay Village Police
Department to monitor activity in our streets. These cameras have the technological
capability for the plate reader program when it becomes available. Chief Robert
Daniel supports this program and frankly so do I. This is a security
enhancement that would benefit the whole community.
Another good idea
stemming from these discussions is the Neighborhood Crime Watch Program.
However for this idea to be successful it will require the participation of
many of our residents. This program has proved successful in other
neighborhoods across the country. I am urging our friends and neighbors to step
forward and volunteer. Chief Robert Daniels supports this idea and because I
have seen the power of community I support it as well. Step forward!!!
What is your idea to
make our community safer?

VILLAGE FIRST

I really agree with what you say about the neighborhood crime watch. Everyone seems to have security gates vancouver where I am but at the same time I think that when the community can work together the results are better.
